I am a canary in the coal mine.... I am a warning... I am a friend... I have put my cancer experience into a framework for healing and recovery.
After my lifestyle made me sick and my illness changed the course of my life, I decided to find meaning in the experience and vowed to never again engage in the behaviors that led to my illness. But what exactly were the factors? After deep reflection and hard work- change is hard!- I did a deep dive into research that was off the conventional path. Teachers began to appear and as the saying goes, when I changed the way I looked at things, the things I looked at changed.
My research led me to understand how cancer really develops and our own role in that development and how we can reverse the actions, behaviors and emotions to reignite our powerful immune system so that it can do its job. I learned about ways to engage in my own healing and recovery that were natural and noninvasive. And I detailed my findings in my book, Take Charge of Your Cancer, so that I can share them with you.
Norman Plotkin is a former lobbyist and cancer survivor who has found his passion for helping people through consulting, coaching, practicing hypnotherapy, speaking, and writing around wellness, healing and recovery.
During a 25-year career in and around state government, Norman gained powerful insights into health policy and the internal workings of the practice of medicine as a committee Consultant to the California State Assembly Health Committee and a lobbyist for the California Medical Association.
Norman is certified in hypnotherapy for cancer clients and has expanded his offering to include coaching on the seven proven factors that make a real difference for cancer patients, or anyone with chronic illness, for true healing and recovery. On his journey, he discovered that the power of the therapeutic partnership is established when patients become active participants in the development of their therapeutic plan because they feel more in control of their own well- being and are more likely to make sustained lifestyle changes to improve their health.
Norman’s ultimate goal is that his experience and research will enable him to positively impact the lives of survivors and their families.
Norman has three children and a grandchild. One of his most amazing life experiences was taking his daughter through hypnobirthing, which resulted in a 24-minute delivery delivering on his daughter’s desire for natural childbirth without drugs! He lives in Oceanside, CA, where he can be found, when not seeing clients, cutting through traffic on his Yamaha.
